Shores of Thought and Feeling contains seventy-six hymn texts in a variety of meters, mostly traditional. Simple metrical paraphrases share space with other texts that are tied less tightly to the scriptural passages involved. Some are traditional hymns of praise; many others are colored by the author's interest in social justice and other modern issues. All are influenced by his belief in retelling the Judeo-Christina story with vivid imagery and in clear, contemporary language.
