THE ORGANIST’S

COMPANION

edited by
WAYNE LEUPOLD
a journal of quality organ music for the practical church musician

Volume 42, Number 3 March 2020

General, Palm Sunday, Easter Sunday, Easter Season, Festivals
The Organist’s Companion is a bi-monthly journal of organ music designed to meet the various needs of organists,
pianists, and amateur keyboardists. Each issue features very easy music for manuals only or with simple pedal points (no
more than two different pitches), intermediate music with or without a pedal part, and historical music covering various
styles of the Baroque and Romantic periods for amateur through intermediate skill levels. The contents are selected to
be easily within the technical capabilities of the vast majority of organists in this country.
This periodical will be of significant value to organists who play in churches that may or may not observe the liturgical
year, since each issue contains compositions of a general nature in addition to those written for a particular liturgical
season. The issues are organized as follows:
November General, Advent, Christmas, Epiphany
January General, Lent, Holy Week, Funerals
March General, Palm Sunday, Easter Sunday, Easter Season, Festivals
May General, Ascension, Pentecost, Trinity
July General, Weddings, Patriotic, Communion
September General, All Saints, Reformation, Thanksgiving
Urtext editions are used in this journal whenever possible. The music is presented to show what the composer wrote
and what was published in the first edition. The only exceptions to this editorial procedure are outdated clefs and time
signatures, which have been replaced by those in common use today. Obvious printing errors have been corrected
without comment. Any editorial suggestions, additions, or alterations are enclosed in brackets or indicated by footnotes.
