In his lifetime, he served as associate organist and master of the choristers at Westminster Abbey; assistant to the director of music of the Episcopal Cathedral of St. John the Divine in New York City; organist and choirmaster at St. Clement’s Episcopal Church in St. Paul, Minnesota; organist and choirmaster at St. Paul’s Episcopal Church in San Diego, California, before returning to assume the position of organist and music director of historic Trinity Church at Broadway and Wall Street in Manhattan where he remained for twenty-one years.
